Veteran Malayalam actor Rajasekharanpopularly known as SI Rajasekharan for his memorable portrayals of policemen on screen, died on Sunday at his residence in Chingavanam in Kerala’s Kottayam district. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.A well-known face in Malayalam cinema and television, Rajasekharan became well-known for essaying the roles of sub-inspectors and police officers in many films, earning him the nickname “SI Rajasekharan” among audiences and peers.
He appeared in over 100 films
According to reports, Rajasekharan has appeared in more than 100 Malayalam films in his career. His notable credits include Sandarbham, Rajavinte Makan, Vazhiyorakazchakal, Nair Saab, Mudra, Sethurama Iyer CBI, No. 20 Madras Mail, Thappana, Parassala Pachan Payyannur Paramu, and Oru Second Class Yathra.Apart from films, he has also been on Malayalam television, appearing in several popular dramas over the years.

Rajasekharan was a regular presence in films directed by veteran actor Joshiy, with his many police roles becoming memorable among Malayalam moviegoers.Mammootty, who shared screen space with Rajasekharan in several films, paid his last respects to the late actor through a heartfelt Facebook post.Rajasekharan’s death marks the end of a decades-long career, during which he carved out a small supporting role for himself, mostly in the uniformed roles that became his signature onscreen.
