Singer Shweta Mohan shared a tribute to legendary singer S. Janakiwho passed away on Sunday in Mysuru at the age of 88. Taking to social media, the ‘Njan Chendena’ singer said the loss has left a void in his life.

In her Instagram post, Shweta Mohan shared several pictures of her and S. Janaki from their meetings. There he can be seen in real happiness to meet a well-known person. The post also includes a video where S. Janaki presents a gift to Shweta who couldn’t contain her excitement and touched her feet. Another picture shows them eating together, with Shweta serving S. Janaki.In his statement he explained how much Janaki meant to him as a singer and as a person. Shweta said that Janaki’s music has always been a part of her journey and that Janaki will remain her biggest inspiration.“My Queen Janakiamma is no more… I have lost a piece of my heart and a part of my musical life (heart break emoji) I loved her so much. Every day of my musical journey is with her in it. Her music and singing have become a ‘textbook’ that I am still learning from,” he wrote.

He added, “I consider him the best singer in the world. I repeat – The best singer in the world… There is nothing he did not do with his voice – power, appearance, emotion, style, breath control, perfection, flexibility, the birth of words in every language – he is incomparable born in a wise and intelligent heart.

Shweta Mohan said that she admires S. Janaki not only for her music but also for the kind of person she was. He wrote, “Even on a human level, I admire the most – the way Mom and everyone around her are. She has always been honest and clean, loving and mature, calm and assertive, approachable and well-known, yet casually the queen that she is.” He said that Janaki’s caring and humble nature made everyone around her feel loved and respected. Shweta also recalled working with S. Janaki over the past two years on S. Janaki – The Composer. He wrote, “I have had the great privilege of working with him for the past two years on the song ‘S. Janaki — The Composer’, in which Amma made me sing four songs, written and composed by herself. I learned a lot by doing this and became very close to Amma. I don’t think I can recover from this loss. It was very difficult to sing at the concert today after hearing the news that he was not there. But I will learn to turn this pain into a celebration of his life and work. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
