A petition to immediately stop the illegal screening of Diljit Dosanj 'Satluj' has been filed in the Supreme Court, the lawyer says it is being done to spread hatred.

The Diljit Dosanjh starrer, which was taken off the platform a few days after its release, is said to now be screened in several locations, including parts of Punjab and Jammu. The alleged protests led to a legal crisis, with a petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to take action against the organizers of the event.Inspired by the life and death of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, the film premiered on OTT on July 3 before being released on the platform on July 5. Its sudden withdrawal sparked a lot of discussion about investigations, legal proceedings and distribution of the film through illegal channels.Advocate Vineet Jindal announced on X, formerly Twitter, that he had approached the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court over the ‘Satluj’ campaign. While sharing the petition, he said he has asked for legal intervention against the alleged organizers of the incident.Jindal wrote on Such surveillance is said to be used to incite violence and spread hatred against the community and security agencies.He said, “These violations pose a serious threat to peace, stability and tranquility in the state of Punjab. Therefore, I have called for appropriate measures to prevent illegal surveillance and ensure that those involved are brought to justice. ” In another video, Jindal said showing a film without a valid license or official release was illegal. He also urged the authorities to register THIS and take strict action against the organizers.After the film’s cancellation from Zee5, the streaming platform had issued a statement saying, “Given the current situation, Satluj will not be available in India until further notice. We remain committed to exploring every possible avenue through the right process to bring the film to our audience at the earliest opportunity.”
