Alexander Zverev, fresh off winning his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, has secured a spot in his first Grand Slam tournament Wimbledon She reached the final after defeating British wild card player Arthur Ferry 7-6 (7-0), 6-2, 6-4 on Friday.The German admits Wimbledon has always been his toughest Grand Slam but is now just one win away from lifting the trophy.“This Grand Slam has been the one I struggled with the most and all of a sudden I’m in the Wimbledon final,” the 29-year-old said. “We have a game on Sunday and that’s the focus.”Zverev, who won his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last month, will face either defending champion Yannick Sinner or the seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic in Sunday’s final. He said he remains confident despite the challenges.“No matter who the opponent is, it’s not going to be easy,” Zverev said. “But I have to believe in myself, I have to believe I can win, and that’s what I’m going to do.”The victory also made Zverev the first German to reach the Wimbledon final since Boris Becker in 1995.Despite the end of Arthur Ferry’s dream run, Zverev praised the British wildcard and predicted a bright future for the 114th-ranked player.“I think this is just the beginning of his career and I really think he’s going to do amazing things in this sport,” he said.Zverev also applauded the Wimbledon crowd, who showed their support for the home favorites throughout the match.“I know 99.99% of the people in the stadium want Arthur to win. But it’s still an incredible atmosphere. The crowd is fair too,” Zverev said. “There are a lot of groups of people in the world that can serve as role models for this group of people. They are one of the best groups of people to play tennis in front of.”
