'We will definitely try our best to resolve the issue': BCCI to review Indian team immediately after England tour ends
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia; with Team India in England

New Delhi: India’s disastrous white-ball tour of England sparks Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a detailed review of the men’s T20I squad, with secretary Devajit Saikia confirming that the team’s performance will be scanned immediately after the ongoing tour of England. The announcement came after the defending T20 World Cup champions suffered a humiliating nine-wicket loss to England in Bristol, giving the hosts an undisputed 3-0 lead in the five-match series.Speaking to IANS in Edinburgh, where the International Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting is held, Saikia acknowledged that India is going through a difficult phase but expressed confidence that the board will identify problems and work to resolve them.

“A review of the team will be conducted after the series”

“The thing is simple. The Indian T20I team went through a bad phase in the previous matches against England and Ireland. So, once this series is over, we have to look back. Now, the men’s T20I team is going through a bad phase as far as the performance of the men’s T20I team is concerned,” Saikia said.“So we have to look into the issues they are facing and we will definitely try to address it through a detailed review once the series is over,” he added.Saikia also confirmed the timetable for the exercise and said: “The review will take place immediately after the conclusion of the England ODI series on July 19.”

Indian tourism is deteriorating

India’s white-ball campaign has unraveled over the past few weeks. The visiting team first suffered a historic 0-2 defeat by Ireland in the T20I series, before England ended the ongoing five-match series with an overwhelming victory in Bristol. In the fourth T20I, India’s record after opting to bat was just 158/7, with captain Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 80 being the only bright spot. England then chased down the match with ease as captain Harry Brooke (79 not out) and Phil Salt (59 not out) combined for an unbeaten partnership to seal victory with more than six overs remaining. These failures exposed some concerns on India’s part. The batting unit has struggled to adapt to the favorable conditions, with the bowling attack missing out on the emergence of key all-rounder Hardik Pandya and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, while the defense has fallen below the high standards expected of the defending world champions. With just the fifth T20I remaining at Southampton before attention shifts to the three-match ODI series, India will be desperate to end their losing streak on a positive note.
