Pandharpur Wari produces Bharatanatyam to support girl child education
Bala Devi Chandrashekar’s ‘Mauli – A Timeless Tradition’ integrates classical dance with Pune’s corporate social responsibility endeavors

PUNE: FUEL (Friends Federation for Vibrant Living) educational institution will present ‘Mauli – An Eternal Tradition’, a work of Bharatanatyam inspired by the spiritual essence of Pandharpur Wari, at the MES auditorium in Kothrud on July 12. The event will also raise funds to support the education of 10 female students through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.The 75-minute piece will be performed by internationally renowned Bharatanatyam exponent, choreographer and researcher Bala Devi Chandrashekar.Announcing the show on Wednesday, FUEL founder and chairman Dr Ketan Deshpande said the work celebrates the enduring connection between devotion, tradition and classical art while giving viewers a glimpse into the spiritual journey of Warkari tradition.Bala Devi Chandrashekar said that the work depicts the life and devotional works of Warkari saints including Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Namdev, Sant Eknath, Sant Tukaram and Sant Janabai. “Wali is more than just a pilgrimage, it is an inner spiritual journey that ultimately leads to personal transformation. Through Bharatanatyam, we try to bring alive this timeless tradition,” she said.The show will star famous abhangs and bharud such as Sundar Te Dhyan, Roop Paahata Lochani and Khel Mandiyela Valavanti Ghai.Organizers said the initiative combines cultural heritage with social responsibility and supports the educational aspirations of underprivileged girls through the program.
