‘Things are really bad,’ Ryan Ten Douchat puts onus on Indian players to think… | Cricket News
New Delhi: India Assistant Coach Ryan Ten Duchardt Continuing their poor performance in overseas T20Is, the Indian team did not back down and suffered another series defeat. After being whitewashed 0-2 by Ireland, India lost the five-match T20I series 0-3 to England with one game remaining. More than a dozen Saudis said that India first needs to accept the fact that it is not performing well overseas. “We’ve talked a lot about adaptation, and it’s easy to say we need to adapt, that’s easy to say, but actually now we need to understand the process, what’s needed to make those adaptations,” said Ten Duchard.“I don’t want to come out in defense of the players and I don’t want to be too critical, but the onus is on the players to accept that it’s really bad and look at the evidence in front of them,” the coach said. This is the first time since February 2019 that India has lost two consecutive bilateral T20I series. That year, they lost 1-2 in New Zealand and lost 0-2 at home to Australia.England also created history by defeating India in a bilateral T20I series of two or more matches for the first time. India had won five of the six previous series between the two teams, one of which ended in a draw.Dozens of Saudis said players must now focus on succeeding in a challenging overseas environment rather than relying on performances at home.“The challenge for the team, mentally and mentally, is to accept the fact that we didn’t perform well in foreign conditions and tell the players that in two years’ time in Australia the big prize is going to be there. Do we want to be a team that breaks 250m in India and looks great hitting 80m six at Eden Gardens, or do we want to come to a place like Manchester, Southampton where things are slightly different and move further towards the MCG,” Shidoshat said.“These are places where we want to be a team that performs well in different conditions and do we have the mentality to make those adjustments. That’s the mental challenge and we need players to take that on,” he added.India will look to avoid a 4-0 deficit when they take on England in the fifth and final T20I at Southampton on Saturday.
