Hollywood actor and singer Tyrese Gibson has described his recent trip to India as a “life-changing” spiritual journey, sharing thoughts from Mumbai about meditation, gratitude and the enduring influence of Mahatma Gandhi on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.The Fast & Furious star took to Instagram on June 27 to share pictures and videos from her visit to a Shiva temple in Mumbai. In these episodes, Gibson was seen performing aarti and offering milk to the shivalingam as part of the temple rituals.
‘I came as a pilgrim, not a stranger’
Reflecting on his journey, Gibson said he went to India not for sightseeing but to embark on a journey of self-discovery and inner peace.Compared to the historic visit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in India in 1959, Gibson wrote, “In 1959, Dr Martin Luther King Jr came to India as a visitor, not a foreigner. He came to learn about the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, whose philosophy of non-violence forever shaped the Civil Rights Movement. Dr King later said that Jesus showed him the spirit of love, but Gandhi showed him the way. That trip changed history.“The actor said his own journey centered around learning to meditate and develop a sense of calm.He wrote: “I have wanted to learn to meditate to be still, to calm the racing mind that sometimes causes anxiety, and to seek true peace of mind, body, and spirit.” This is the journey of a lifetime.
Calls India ‘truly life-changing’
Gibson also praised the “AMA” for the warmth and hospitality he received during his stay, describing the experience as a turning point.“Thank you very much to the AMA organization for receiving me with such love. I am very grateful and honored.” This event was not only timely and it really changed their lives. I truly believe that this brother will one day receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his amazing work to save and protect animals. Blessings upon blessings,” he wrote.
He opens up about traveling with a childhood friend
The actor revealed that the trip had a special meaning because he was accompanied by his lifelong friend, Kenyatta.“What makes this trip so special is that I’m in India with my childhood friend, Kenyatta…Kenyatta and I have been best friends since we were 8 years old. He fed me, protected me, and his parents The Snowdens opened their home to me and stood by me through the most difficult times of my childhood and teenage years,” Gibson shared.Reflecting on gratitude and lasting friendships, he added: “Life has taught me something simple: when you are truly grateful, every day you try to think of how to repay the people who stood by your side when you had nothing.”He also thanked his friend and mentor, Prabhav Sharma, for his guidance.“Thank you to my brother @prabs. 12.
