In an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,’ Christopher Nolan admitted that he couldn’t direct a romantic comedy, because making people laugh is one of the hardest things to do. “I think doing a rom-com can be very difficult. I love watching those movies. But, no, I think it’s funny, like the people who direct the comedy, the people who do the comedy, I think it’s one of the hardest things in the world to make people laugh in that way,” he said in the show, pointing out that rom-coms are more difficult to draw than most people think. “especially the risks they take. When you make a movie … you know, if I’m showing a movie to people and maybe they’re not responding to the little things, I’m like, ‘Oh, they’re not getting it. Everything.’ “There’s nothing to hide behind when you’re making jokes,” Nolan joked, prompting Fallon to chuckle in response.
Christopher Nolan almost lost’The Odyssey ‘dark pictures
During the interview, Nolan recalled almost losing footage of ‘The Odyssey.’ It happened during the airport transfer when the agents opened the large cans of the IMAX format, putting the film at risk of direct exposure. Since the film is so sensitive, the opened containers were at risk of damage in unfavorable conditions.
