Reminiscing about her early days on Ramanand Sagar’s hit television show, Deepika revealed that she first appeared as goddess Lakshmi before her role as Sita.He shared, “My first day on ‘Ramayan’ was not as Sita. I was Goddess Lakshmi. We did one episode on Doordarshan for seven days. I just pressed the feet of Lord Vishnu for those seven days. I didn’t know what the future of the show would be. Papaji (Ramanand Sagar) said that if this is approved, ‘Ramayan’ will be made.”
The original ‘Ramayan’ still holds a special place for Deepika Chikhalia
He was asked about Arun Govilwho portrayed Lord Ram in the television series and now plays King Dashrath in ‘Ramayana’, Deepika reflected on the show’s impact and why she feels her legacy is unmatched.Chikhalia said, “We are known for what we are, which was aired on Doordarshan during the pandemic. So, it is very difficult to remove it. Staji with curly hair is not mentioned in ‘Ramayan’.”

Deepika admitted that portraying Sita brings a lot of recognition and makes it difficult for filmmakers to consider her in different roles.He explained, “I haven’t found any work. In fact, I am asking people for work even now. Ranbir has worked in ‘Barfi!’, ‘Sanju’ and ‘Animal’, and now he is playing Lord Rama. That is the beauty of today.” In our day it was not like that. We are all typecast. It’s still hard to get a job because people don’t see me like anyone else. That’s why I went into Production.”
‘Ramayana’ released and released a day
Ramayana has one of the largest collections of Indian films. Ranbir Kapoor stars as Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita.
