Tom Holland best known for his role as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he has established himself as one of Hollywood’s greatest actors. Now, the actor has given a big update on one of his favorite projects: the biography of the famous dancer and singer Fred Astaire, revealing that his training for the project filled him with great joy and fear.
The actor said his first audition sessions made him realize how much work lay ahead as he prepared to honor Astaire’s legacy.
Reflecting on the next chapter of his career during his appearance on ‘Good Morning America’ on July 20, Tom Holland explained more about his preparations for the Fred Astaire biopic. Holland revealed that she has already returned to the dance studio preparing for the long-awaited project, describing her first rehearsal sessions as something humbling. “I did my first tryouts recently, and it gave me a lot of excitement and fear because I have a lot of work to do to make Fred proud,” Holland said during the interview.

Holland admitted he was entering a new professional stage where he could no longer rely on youthful charm alone. “Now I feel like I’m starting this chapter where I can no longer stop being a teenager,” said the actor. “For me, what I like about my work is the challenge. We have the next Fred Astaire, which we are planning to do. And as soon as I finish with these tours, I will go back to the dance studio,” he added.

Spider-Man admitted that his first dance left him overwhelmed by the amount of work ahead. Holland said he was determined to do the work honestly and honor Astaire’s legacy in entertainment history. His commitment to the project was a reflection of his responsibility to portray one of the most famous people in the history of cinema.

Holland also revealed his desire for how the film’s dance numbers will be used on screen. “I wish I didn’t have to use two takes, all the dances, shoot their dances at the same time, the way they would have done it,” he said. His performance paid homage to Astaire’s style of choreographed choreography, which allowed him to perform at his best.

The biopic, which was supposed to be directed by Paul King From Steven Levenson’s show, it was first announced in 2021, when Holland confirmed that he had signed on to play Astaire.

Holland’s latest update came as he and wife Zendaya toured the world promoting ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. The movie marks the fourth Spider-Man movie after they first met in 2017’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. Zendaya recently decided to reunite with Holland at the latest launch, telling Elle that returning to the series felt great and rewarding. “Spider-Man was a dream; I go to work every day with my best friend, the person I love,” he said. “We bring our dogs to work; it’s like family. We grew up in those movies! It’s like coming home,” he added.‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ hits theaters on July 31.
