Ed Harris Considers Leaving ‘Dutton Ranch’ Due to Pollution Concerns |
Ed Harris is a four-time Oscar nominee best known for his roles in ‘The Truman Show’ and ‘Apollo 13’, establishing himself as one of the most respected actors in Hollywood. The veteran actor has made a career of choosing high-profile roles in film and television. However, his recent turn on the ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff ‘Dutton Ranch’ upset the 75-year-old actor, who revealed that he decided to quit the show midway through its first season due to concerns about how his character was being used.

According to Variety, Ed Harris spoke candidly about his experience at ‘Dutton Ranch’ at the red carpet premiere on Monday. The actor was very specific about his dissatisfaction with his role, telling the production, “I feel that I am unimportant and unimportant.” Harris recalled telling his team, “Get me out of here,” expressing his frustration with the lineup. Harris, who is promoting his comedy film “The Dink,” plays optometrist Dr. Everett McKinney and stars opposite ‘Yellowstone’ alumni Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser in the series, which premiered in May on the platform.
Ed Harris felt “mislead” about his character’s role in ‘Dutton Ranch’.
The actor said he “didn’t feel like he was being used” on the series and “felt a little misled” about the scale of his role. Prior to filming Season 1, Harris spoke to the production team about the game and his character’s role, and informed him that he would be the main character. “It wasn’t really like that,” he said, recalling his disappointment at how the reality differed from what was promised in pre-negotiations.
Speaking at a recent premiere, Harris admitted that she also asked to leave the series after she felt her appearance was meaningless.
Harris also said that the band ‘Dutton Ranch’ left out his singing scene in the cutting room, a thought that bothered him deeply. “It really pissed me off,” he said of the dismissal. His complaint highlighted the discrepancy between what was promised and what was seen on the screen at the time.
Production promises more Ed Harris stuff in Season 2
However, production has also assured Harris that he will have more material to work with in Season 2. The series was renewed in June, and Season 2 begins filming in February. Harris described his experience at ‘Dutton Ranch’ as ”a little disappointing” overall, saying that the demand for his screen presence did not match what he felt was promised in post-production. He said he hopes that the promises he made in Season 2 will be fulfilled to be a fulfilling part for the former actor.
