She reveals that the film and her husband Tushar were often overlooked at Bollywood awards, calling this win unexpected and humbling.

In fact, the Best Actor trophy at the 72nd National Film Awards was shared with Kartik Aaryan and Mammootty, ‘Chandu Champion’ and ‘Bramayugam’, respectively. ‘Srikanth’ co-producer Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani, however, refutes any suggestion that this seems like a no-brainer for Rajkummar. “I don’t think you can be disgusted with Raj’s type of actors. It’s impossible,” he tells News18.“I don’t think the National Awards judges would do that. I’m sure they had their reasons.” Optimistically, every producer wants success for their players, teammates and themselves. And Raj has given one of the best performances of his career in this film. It’s there for everyone to see. Like Srikanth, he brought him alive on screen and we are very grateful to him for that,” he added.

Parmar, who is also married to the director Tushar Hiranandanihe continues to praise Kartik, believing that he has indeed earned the honor. “Kartik has done an amazing job in Chandu Champion. The judges of the National Awards knew what they were doing. But would we have wanted Raj to win? Absolutely. Does that mean we didn’t want Kartik to win? No. They have taken the right decision,” he says.Nidhi shares that she doesn’t expect the predictions of Srikanth’s huge success to come true, and points out that the film and Tushar have been largely overlooked at every Bollywood award ceremony. “I was hoping that we would be selected in our film. Our actors won Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards. Writers were selected but Tushar was never selected,” said rues.He continues: “I don’t know how many names were given to this film. But through everyone’s disgust, it felt like it wasn’t happening for us. But it didn’t bother me too much because it didn’t mean we made a lesser film. It just meant I didn’t know how the game works.”

We were not thinking about it but we knew that we have given our best to this film. We are very happy. The Best Film Award is not just for us. It is for everyone involved in this film,” says Nidhi.
