‘Krishnavataram’ Actress Sanskrit JayanaGrandson of Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh and Chief Minister of Gujarat recently hosted viewers at his stunning home in Gujarat. More than just a beautiful building, the place stands as a tribute to the various handicraft traditions of India, and almost everything is made by skilled artisans.From exquisite wall prints and handmade cushions to wall hangings, table runners and decorative pieces, every corner of the house showcases unique craftsmanship. Sanskruti revealed that several of the artworks displayed throughout the building took months and, in some cases, even years to complete.
A traditional hali built around family and art
The house follows the traditional Gujarati haveli design, with a courtyard that helps keep the family together on the ground floor. During a tour of the home with Mashable India, Sanskruti explained that her parents wanted the design to reflect this openness, with balconies that connect to the levels so that “even someone standing upstairs can be a part of the conversation going on below.”The artist said, “My parents’ vision was to build the house in a Gujarati style. Every Gujarati house has a central courtyard where the family gathers. The floors are connected through open corridors, so that even the person standing below can be a part of the conversation going on below.”That collaborative spirit also extends to the home decor, much of which is handmade and the result of her mother’s many years of friendship with artisans across the country. “My mother has been working with craftsmen for the past 25 years. I grew up around them. Everything in this house is handmade,” said Sanskruti.
A wall of wisdom, inspirational quotes, and inspired designs by Kachchi
One notable feature is honoring the devout leaders who built India, which the family calls “the wall of wisdom.” Elsewhere, words of encouragement are woven into the walls, corridors and outdoor walkways throughout the building, meant to encourage everyone who passes by. The walls of the building are also decorated with Kachchi borders, which lend the space a Gujarati feel, along with inscriptions, small paintings, and old wedding utensils that have been repurposed as decorative pieces.
Classic in design and a nod to his grandfather ‘Mr Toilet’
Sustainability runs through the house’s DNA. Sanskruti explained that the site was built for “conscious living,” pointing to rainwater harvesting, solar energy, and other eco-friendly practices built into everyday life. The ethos is also evident in the most unexpected places, though the washrooms feature colorful themes, inspirational quotes, and small libraries, the Sanskruti details connecting to his grandfather, who he said was “known as ‘Mr Toilet'” after winning the Padma Shri for his work in sanitation.“Our house is designed for a healthy lifestyle. It is eco-friendly. We harvest rainwater, use solar energy and follow practices that help us live in harmony with nature,” said Sanskruti.
Open kitchen, pizza oven and ‘grateful walk’
The open kitchen of the house flows into the dining area and the outdoor living area, perfect for the rainy months, while the outdoor kitchen hosts family gatherings, cooking sessions and bonfires, as Sanskruti says, family pizza nights thanks to the dedicated pizza oven on site.Perhaps the most popular site is the “Gratitude Walk,” a path that includes notes expressing gratitude to nature, the five elements, and life itself, designed to encourage mindfulness. The building also includes a dedicated meditation and yoga center, focusing on mindful living.
A lot of ‘Krishnavataram Part 1: Heart ‘
Sanskruti Jayana made her acting debut in ‘Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart’ (Hridayam), a 2026 Hindi devotional film directed by Hardik Gajjar. The first installment in the trilogy planned and starred Siddharth GuptaSushmitha Bhat and Nivaashiyni Krishnan, with music by Prasad S. is a movie by Ayananka Bose.Based on Raam Mori’s 2025 novel Satyabhama, the film retells the story of Lord Krishna from Satyabhama’s point of view, and explores his relationship with concubines Rukmini and Satyabhama after his separation from Radha. Originally titled Shri Radha Ramanam, it was released worldwide on 7 May 2026 as ‘Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart’ (Hridayam), received positive reviews from critics, and was declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh.
